HER Outdoors Week: Your Invitation to Try Something New
HER Outdoors Week is back this August, celebrating the outdoors and encouraging women and girls across Ireland to discover new ways to get active. Taking place from Monday 12th to Sunday 18th August, this nationwide initiative is led by Sport Ireland and offers a huge variety of outdoor events and activities, all designed to be fun, inclusive, and accessible to every level.
Over the course of the week, clubs, local sports partnerships, and activity providers will be opening their doors (trails, beaches, and waterways) to welcome participants into everything from kayaking and paddleboarding to hiking, cycling, yoga in the park, and more. The goal is simple: to inspire more women and girls to get outdoors, try something new, and enjoy all the physical, mental, and social benefits that come with it.
Why take part?
- No experience needed – Activities are tailored for beginners and those returning to sport.
- Affordable and accessible – Many events are free or low cost.
- Connect with others – Meet like-minded people in a relaxed, social setting.
- Discover hidden gems – Explore beautiful outdoor locations right on your doorstep.
HER Outdoors Week is about breaking down barriers, building confidence, and creating opportunities for women and girls to engage with the outdoors in ways that work for them. Whether you’re looking to try a new sport, reconnect with one you loved in the past, or simply spend more time outside, there’s something here for you.

From Donegal to Wexford, and everywhere in between, activities are happening across the country, so there’s bound to be something near you.
