Girls Active Festival Sligo

Thursday, 20th April at Cleveragh Park, Sligo. Her Moves launched the Girls Active Festival in Sligo in partnership with Youth Sport West and HSE.

The Her Moves campaign aims to influence teenage girls opening their eyes to more opportunities and encourage girls to embrace sport and physical activity – sharing their experiences with friends.

The weather was on our side and the day was packed full of female-focused events. 150 girls aged from over thirteen from nine different schools were present and participated in a variety of ‘Come and Try’ activities.

Participating schools included:

  • Mercy College
  • Ursuline College
  • Sligo Grammar School
  • Balinode College
  • Grange Post Primary School
  • Colaiste Muire
  • Corran College
  • St Marys College Ballisodare
  • Sligo Community Training Centre

Her Moves is designed to inspire and support more teenage girls to be active. To find something that moves you is the main aim of the Her Moves campaign. At the Girl’s Active Festival, the array of activities included Triathlon, Rugby, Gymnastics, Rowing, Cycling, Martial Arts, Orienteering, Tennis and Games – Snakes & Ladders etc.

FUN is at the heart of everything we’re about and this active festival lived up to that goal. Huge thanks to Youth Sport West, the HSE and Sport Ireland for their continued support.
