Looking Back, Moving Forward: Her Moves Story So Far

Reflecting on the journey since its launch on International Women's Day in 2023, Her Moves has swiftly evolved into a beacon of empowerment for teenage girls across Ireland. From immersive launch events to dynamic school tours and inspiring partnerships, Her Moves has been making waves in promoting an active and confident lifestyle. Join us as we delve into the story of Her Moves over the past year.

Her Moves Launch

This day last year March 8th, 2023, on International Women's Day, Her Moves is officially introduced with a unique launch event held in the Sport Ireland Campus. The campaign is unveiled to LSP, NGB and wider sector colleagues through an immersive event experience. Minister Thomas Byrne joins Dr. Una May to formally launch the Her Moves campaign. That morning sees hundreds of teen girls, parents, teachers, coaches, and providers attend.

 

Her Moves Schools Tour – March 24th

The Her Moves Schools Roadshow kicks off with visits to Coláiste Bríde, Mount Sackville and Loreto Bray Secondary Schools by our Her Moves team. The students take part in some fun activities and receive Her Moves merchandise.

 

First HM Programmes Announced – April 18th

Karate Ireland launch the first Her Moves programme with their ‘Teens in Karate’ programme in Mayo and Tyrone!

Teen Ambassadors “Her Moves: My Story" – May 13th

Our team of teen ambassadors join the campaign to help spread the Her Moves word. Each girl receives a Her Moves pack. We share the girls’ "un-boxing" videos and feature their user generated content on Her Moves’ socials! Weekly, a “Her Moves: My Story" profile features on the hub and across all the social platforms.

Her Moves Summer Tour Launches – June 24th

The Her Moves Summer Tour kicks off on June 24th with a bumper weekend across Clare and Mayo. The Her Moves team visit the "Teens In Karate" beach boot camp with our friends in ONAKAI along with the "Teen Connect" camp hosted in partnership with Mayo LSP, Canoeing Ireland and Teen Connect.

 

First Her Moves Ambassador – Thammy Nguyen

August sees the launch of the first official Her Moves ambassador campaign, spotlighting weightlifting as an option for girls to try.

Thammy is the first Irish weightlifter ever to medal at the Senior European Championships and is an inspiration to young women and girls. The Thammy x Her Moves campaign launches with a competition, where 2winning schools are selected to be visited by Thammy, Weighlifting Ireland, and the Her Moves Team. This achieves a fantastic response, with over 500 entering the competition. The winning schools are Ashbourne Community School and Loreto Balbriggan.

Her Moves and Barbara Bennett Collaboration

At the end of August Her Moves announces their partnership with shoe designer and online personality, Barbara Bennett. Barbara Bennett has been making some waves in the fashion scene of late with her ability to customise shoes and make them her own. Her Moves collaborates with Barbara to commission 4 pairs of personalised Her Moves Nike runners for a selection of teenage girls to win via a competition.

 

Her Moves at the Shine Festival

Her Moves' participation at the Shine Festival, coupled with its partnership on The Shona Handbook, was truly remarkable. This collaboration with Shona and other empowering initiatives for teenage girls marked a fantastic conclusion to the school calendar year for Her Moves.

As we look back on our journey, we're filled with gratitude for the incredible support and enthusiasm from the Her Moves community. With anticipation building, we can't wait to unveil what lies ahead for Her Moves. Here's to an exciting year ahead!
